December 2007 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to announce that starting with this issue our newsletter will have a new format. Most of you know that, several months ago, we set up a ministry website (blog) written in English and Chinese containing video clips, MP3 files, daily devotions, scriptural helps, background and current information on our ministry, etc. The website provides a clearer and more up-to-date picture of the work we are doing in Toufen, Taiwan. The newsletter will now be succinct (about one page) containing a summary of recent events, pictures, and links to the website. We hope you enjoy this new format. Please feel free to write us if you run into any problems navigating back and forth between the website and the newsletter or if you have suggestions on how we can improve our communications with you in the future.

Many of you know that Elder Chen left our church at the end of October. Although the months preceding his departure were extremely difficult for the church, “joy came in the morning”. We feel that God supernaturally has been encouraging the church and blessing us personally over the past few weeks. The services and the sermons have been unusually blessed. We have gained a new sense of direction in our own ministry here. So praise the Lord!

Toufen Church Evangelistic Meetings
Pastor David Chen (see below) is a gifted evangelist, as well as our dear friend. Originally from Taiwan, he now pastors a church on Long Island. November 10th –11th, Pastor Chen ministered in three evangelistic meetings held at our church. Six people accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. Many more rededicated their lives to Christ. All in all, it was a tremendous boost to the church.

Meihuan is a new believer who had been praying that her husband would also become a Christian. Her husband Mr. Xiao was one of those who accepted Christ during the evangelistic meetings. The Xiao family is pictured below.
Francis Kam, a Christian professional drummer, performed solo during the Sunday night evangelistic meeting. It was amazing to watch him perform! He also gave a wonderful testimony of how God can bless musicians who serve Christ. Afterwards Barth, Francis and Janine teamed up to lead worship

Tainan Special Meetings
Barth recently had opportunity to travel to the city of Tainan with his long-time friend, Pastor David Wang. Pastor Wang preached during three days of special meetings. Barth led worship and conducted special training for the church praise team. Many people reported that they were spiritually renewed by the presence of the Holy Spirit in the meetings.
