Letter to Friends and Supporters sent on March 22, 2018

After fifteen years of preaching the gospel and training disciples in Taiwan, we believe the Lord is calling us home to the Buffalo, New York area.  This move is necessitated by the needs of our family.  Janine’s 90 year old mother is now showing clear signs of dementia.  As a result, Janine’s partially paralyzed stepdad has been forced into a nursing home.   It became obvious to us a several months ago that we needed to intervene in their situation.  We also have two adopted grandchildren from Bulgaria and China with multiple disabilities.  The younger one has been undergoing a series of operations.  So to make a long story short, we have to go home.

Leaving Taiwan is not easy for us, since our lives are so closely knit with brothers and sisters here in the Lord.  Fortunately the church is doing well, so we feel we can responsibly turn leadership over to other mature Christians.

We thank God for the privilege of reaching lost and suffering souls with the hope of the gospel, first in the Hakka Chinese City of Toufen, and then through our collaboration with the Taiwan Lutheran Church in the City of Taichung.  We thank you for your prayers and financial support that have made it possible for us to minister here.

After settling in to our new life in America, we do plan to start working again, ministering to the overseas Chinese in the Buffalo area.  Our hearts still have a fervent desire to preach the gospel.  The opportunities abroad and at home abound.

We ask that you prayerfully consider supporting other missionaries.   There are many dedicated missionaries on the field who deserve your support.

We are deeply indebted to you for making it possible for us to be here all these years.   May the love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Sincerely,
Barth and Janine Chapman
